SUNRISE, SUNSET!
THINK
Hmmm.... Where do we start? I've always said in art class, if you don't know how to draw something, think about what shape it is, or what its closest to. One of my super favorite artist is ROMERO BRITTO. He is an artist from Brazil who makes the happiest art based on lots of shapes, patterns, and bright colors!
To get a little taste of what Romero is all about, just take a look at the video. He was inspired by the artist PICASSO who writes about the LOVE of SHAPES. While watching the video and listening to the book, think about the shapes and patterns that most appeal to you as an artist. What can your main shape be that fills the page? I created a SUNRISE, you can choose a HEART, FLOWER, a DIAMOND, or an APPLE! Romero Britto created art with those shapes! PLAN
With pencil and a square-ish piece of paper, sketch your main shape large on your page. Then, add lines that connect to the shape and to the edge of page. Pick your favorite designs and patterns and fill the other shapes you made with connecting lines. Try not to repeat patterns, its more interesting that way
CREATE
Use the BRITTO pattern examples, or your own, create a picture that is your happiest picture ever. Use the supplies you have to color. Water color paint, crayons, markers, color pencil, or just black lines. The only requirement is that your shape and patterns make you smile! Don't forget to share it with me!
